Companion Animal Assistance Fund
At the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire (ARLNH), we know that pets are family. We also know that unexpected veterinary bills can be overwhelming, especially when money is already tight.
The Companion Animal Assistance Fund (CAAF) helps eligible New Hampshire pet owners pay for certain veterinary treatments when financial hardship makes it difficult to afford the care their pet needs. Our goal is simple: help keep pets healthy, out of the shelter, and remain with the families who love them.
CAAF is supported entirely by donations. Because our funding is limited, we prioritize situations where assistance will help bridge the gap between what a family can afford and the cost of care the pet needs.
In order to effectively use our funding and help as many animals as possible, this program is designed to assist with the treatment of conditions that have already been diagnosed by a veterinarian and will not require lifelong management or ongoing treatments. During the application process, please be prepared to upload a document or photo of the itemized quote from the veterinarian who will be treating your animal. The quote must include your name and the veterinary hospital name. If you are finding it difficult to afford an initial exam and diagnostics, please contact us to discuss your options and other resources.
Please review the information below and read the CAAF Info Packet for more information on the program, including eligible vet care, FAQ's, and additional resources, before you apply:
-
You must live in New Hampshire.
-
Your pet must have a medical need that meets program eligibility.
-
The care must be upcoming. We cannot reimburse veterinary bills that have already been paid.
-
You are experiencing financial difficulty that makes the cost of care difficult to manage.
-
We are unable to assist with emergency cases due to the application process. Please do not withhold emergency veterinary care while waiting for a response.
-
Every application is reviewed individually, and assistance is not guaranteed.
