Companion Animal Assistance Fund
At the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, we know that your pet is a part of your family. We also know that caring for that family member can be expensive and difficult when you fall on hard times. Our Companion Animal Assistance Fund (CAAF) is intended to help keep pets in loving homes by assisting owners with an unexpected medical expense that is more than they can afford.
In order to effectively use our funding and help as many animals as possible, this program is designed to assist with the treatment of conditions that have already been diagnosed by a veterinarian and will not require lifelong management or ongoing treatments. During the application process, please be prepared to upload a document or photo of the itemized quote from the veterinarian who will be treating your animal. The quote must include your name and the veterinary hospital name.
The CAAF Program cannot cover the treatments and procedures listed below. If you’re facing one of these situations, we encourage you to check out the alternative resources that may be able to help.
Emergency Care
Preventative Care & Exams (Vaccines, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Medication)
Diagnostic Testing (Blood/Labwork, X-rays, Ultrasound)
At this time, we are unable to use funds to cover the cost of diagnostic testing to determine the cause of an illness or injury. Assistance is limited to treatment for conditions that have already been diagnosed by a veterinarian and have a clear, one-time treatment plan.
Assistance with Low-Cost Spay & Neuter
Recurring Conditions (Skin/Food Allergies, Chronic Ear Infections, Hyperthyroid Treatment)
For pets with these types of ongoing conditions, we recommend talking with your veterinarian about long-term care options. If the cost of treatment becomes too difficult to manage, we understand how hard that situation can be. In some cases, surrendering your pet may be the kindest choice to ensure they receive the ongoing care they need. Click for information on Surrendering a Pet
Euthanasia & End-of-Life Care
