Presents with Purpose

You’ve been invited to a birthday party… and this birthday kid is an absolute ROCKSTAR!
Instead of piling up presents, they’ve decided to turn their big day into something even bigger, helping homeless animals. How cool is that?!
Important: Please do NOT bring birthday gifts to the party. Sticking to this helps keep things kind, fair, and pressure-free for everyone.
Here’s How Your Family Can Join the Fun
1. Pick a Shelter Superstar
Head over to our available animal listings and let your child choose a shelter pet they’d like to support. The available animals change all the time, so if they don’t spot “the one” right away, check back in a few days, new furry faces pop up often!
2. Create Something From the Heart
Now for the fun part! Help your child make a small, homemade gift for their chosen animal. No shopping trip required! This is all about creativity and love using what you already have at home.
Some ideas are:
-
Draw a colorful picture
-
Write a letter full of hope
-
Make a handmade card
-
Bake a pet safe treat (for older kids, with supervision)
Please note: Sometimes animals are adopted between the time you see them on the website and when your gift arrives (which is wonderful news!). If that happens, your child’s masterpiece will brighten another deserving shelter pet’s day. Don’t let that stop your child from including the animal’s name in their artwork if they’d like.....most of our shelter animals can’t read anyway.
3. A “Secret Agent” Donation
Please bring your child’s creation to the party along with a sealed envelope containing cash or a check. There’s no required amount, a good rule of thumb is whatever you might have spent on a birthday gift.
To keep things thoughtful and pressure-free, all envelopes are asked to stay sealed until they reach the shelter. The birthday kid will only hear the grand total raised by everyone — no comparisons, just collective kindness.
4. Bring It All to the Party!
Have your child bring their artwork and sealed envelope to the celebration. After the party, the birthday star will personally deliver everything to the shelter and even get to meet some of the animals they’ve helped instead of opening traditional presents. How awesome is that?!
Thank you for helping us celebrate with big hearts, wagging tails, and lots of love.
