Volunteer

We could not do what we do as an organization without the help of our volunteers. If you are looking for a fulfilling volunteer opportunity where your work will be truly valued, please review our current volunteer openings.

New Volunteers

Are you a perspective volunteer looking to apply for a volunteering opportunity?  Please email our Volunteer Coordinator!

Our current volunteer opportunities can be found below.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS!

  • Age Requirements: Applicants must be at least 14 years old to volunteer.  Youth volunteers ages 14 to 17 must have a parent/legal guardian permission and waiver signed by the adult.  Additionally, youth volunteers ages 14 and 15 must volunteer with a parent/legal guardian present during each volunteering commitment. Volunteers must be 18 or older to volunteer with the dogs.

  • Must be enthusiastic to learn and receive comprehensive hands-on training for animal care-related activities.

  • Our Volunteer Program requires a time commitment of a minimum of at least two hours, twice a month for a time period of at least 6 months, and is not intended for short-term commitments.  We ask this of volunteers since it takes significant resources to onboard and train new volunteers.

  • Not all volunteer tasks may be available if they are already filled.  While we try to accommodate first-choice preferences for opportunities we aim to fill positions we need the most help with and match each volunteer with an appropriate role.

Scout Volunteer Projects

For Scouts looking to complete a project to fulfill requirements for a badge or their Eagle Scout rank, there are plenty of rewarding service opportunities available to you. By taking on projects that help the shelter in a meaningful way, you can gain valuable experience as well as the satisfaction of helping out animals and people in your community! If you have a project idea or need a suggestion, email Josie Dupouy, Volunteer Coordinator, at jdupouy@rescueleague.org to discuss opportunities and projects.

Corporate Volunteering and Engagement

Group volunteering is a great way for companies that are passionate about their communities to make a direct impact! Our Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to plan a volunteer opportunity or project that your group will be passionate about. Group Volunteer Days begin with a tour of the shelter and include the use of our Multi-Purpose Room for an optional team-building exercise activity and/or lunch, as well as time to take pictures and spend socializing and playing with a shelter pet following your volunteer project.

We request that companies make a $500 charitable donation to help defray the cost of staffing and supplies for their volunteer project. We thank you for supporting our programs which are entirely funded by contributions from caring individuals and organizations like yours! If you are unable to give this donation, let us know and we will work with you to find an appropriate amount or alternative option.

ARLNH deeply values these relationships and we hope to build one with your organization! If you are interested in scheduling a volunteer opportunity for your company, email Volunteer Coordinator, Josie Dupouy at jdupouy@rescueleague.org.
