The Animal Rescue League of NH understands how difficult it may be for you to come to us to surrender your animal. Accepting surrendered animals and working to place them in new, loving homes is an important part of our mission. Because of the significance of your decision, we want to ensure that you thoroughly understand our policies on surrendered animals.

We are a Limited Admissions facility. We do not euthanize any animal due to lack of space. All adoptable animals will be sheltered until a suitable home is found no matter how long it takes. In the unfortunate circumstance that we have determined your pet as unadoptable, and euthanasia becomes imminent (due to temperament or health issues,) you will be notified and given the option to reclaim your animal. You will be given a form to fill out at the time of surrender that offers the option to reclaim your pet if he or she is or becomes unadoptable. You will have to be able to reclaim  him or her within 24 hours of being notified. (We do not contact the people that have opted the "do not call" option).

Any information regarding the new adopters is kept confidential. Likewise we do not release any information regarding the previous owners to the new adopters.

If you need to bring your pet to the League, please check our suggestions on our Before You Surrender page for alternatives.  If you still determined that the League is your best option, please review our Admissions process and then call for an appointment.
