The League currently has an opening for a PART-TIME VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: 

Description: 

Engage the critical resource of volunteers in the mission of the League and oversee day to day operations of volunteer program. Recruit and assign volunteers as needed to enhance League operations, programs and events. Reports to the Director of Adoptions & Customer Service.

This role is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week.  Schedule is flexible based on the employee's needs and the demands of the program.  Some work can be performed remotely as needed.  Typically regular hours will be Monday through Friday; however, once every other month a volunteer orientation must be conducted on a Saturday.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an energetic cheerleader who makes volunteers feel engaged and appreciated!
  • Recruit & scheduled volunteers as needed to enhance League operations, programs and events
  • Create, maintain and update volunteer manual and other paperwork including policies and procedures, applications, hours and scheduling records etc.
  • Manage mobile volunteer program, including recruitment of venues for outreach and for canister placement
  • Evaluate  and match new volunteers with open assignments in a timely manner
  • Coordinate volunteer training (e.g., dog walking) with appropriate directors
  • Monitor volunteer satisfaction and performance on a regular basis
  • Act as liaison and communicate with volunteers, League staff, and Department Directors regarding any questions, problems, needs or issues that arise
  • Provide annual evaluations for volunteers and have new agreement signed each year
  • Maintain volunteer database and ensure that active volunteers have signed liability releases and emergency contact forms on file
  • Interact with co-workers and volunteers in an efficient and courteous manner to foster a cooperative and collaborative team environment amongst all departments.
  • Maintain and promote a positive public image for the League
  • Other duties as determined

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Exemplary communication and people skills critical.  Must genuinely enjoy people, but also be comfortable with providing feedback and "course correcting".
  • Experience with MS Office & strong internet search skills
  • Prior volunteer coordinator experience preferred
  • Prior experience as a nonprofit volunteer preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and handle stress
  • Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy and organization
  • Goal-oriented self starter. Must be willing to work both independently and as a team
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Professional demeanor both in appearance and in conduct must be able to show discretion when working with confidential material
  • Must have a passion for animals and support the mission of the League
  • General knowledge of pet behavior and care and willingness to learn League protocols to assist volunteers
  • Zeal for continuous improvement!
  • Positive attitude a must!
