We thought you would like to see updated pictures of "Ringo" and "Shadow" (formerly Butterball & PomPom) adjusting very quickly to their new home!! We knew we picked the right kitties within hours of returning home. They are very happy here and we are very happy with our new arrivals! Would you please be sure and let their foster mom, Gloria, see these pictures? She specifically asked me to let you know that she would like to see them... Thanks, Wendi and Charlie

Ruby, a hound mix, is a transport dog that we adopted from the ARL in October, 2008. She was very shy and timid when we first got her but with the help of obedience class and her adoptive brother Sam (also a rescue dog), she has become a very social, loving and outgoing dog. She loves everyone and everything she comes in contact with. Just a couple of weeks ago, my daughter and her husband adopted Jasmine, a black Pitbull mix from the ARL. Jasmine is a very social girl who does not have a problem meeting new people or dogs. Since we wanted Jasmine to be able to visit us often with my daughter, we arranged a meet and greet for all three dogs. This went well and was followed up with outings in a local park and play dates at my house in our back yard. This past weekend was the most recent play date. It was gorgeous out and the pups were full of energy. After a long day's play, they all came inside for some quiet time and showed off their best behavior. They all sat very quietly and patiently while some yummy snacks were prepared for them. All three dogs had an uncertain future and I am happy to say that they now have a very bright, happy and playful future ahead of them with lots of love, friendship and play in store.

Diva is very happy in her new home. She has all the comforts!

Daisy May
It's now 5 weeks since we brought her home, and at this point we're pretty comfortable with her as a pack member. In case you can't tell from the photos, she adores her big sister and is always trying to get her to play, tugging at Gaia's ears or trying to wrestle. Gaia has been a patient big sister and has learned how to defend herself a bit because of the rough play. Sometimes she just needs time out and goes up on the big bed, which is her hideaway (Daisy can't reach it yet). The wrestling has Mary Ellen and I in hysterics. It's more fun than TV....reminds me a lot of the puppy bowl.
Sammy
We adopted a cat from your shelter about 5 weeks ago...his name is Sammy and he's an orange & white DSH. I just wanted to let you know that he's a wonderful fit to our family...he is such a sweet, loving boy, and he's made the perfect companion for his little "sister", our younger female cat, Indie...they've already become very attached! We are so grateful that we found him at your shelter! Here are some pics of Sammy enjoying his new home!

Gee this guy is a sweetie you think he had lived here all his life. When we brought him home we put the cat carrier in a small room and opened the cage door so he could come out on his own. Within an hour he already checked out our house and his new friend Madison. Lots of sniffing going on but they get along.
We call Tigger "Bobo" just seems to fit and Canobie Vet in Windham has all his records. You know we were reading Tiggers background and see he was cared for well. All the answers were accurate and it was sad that they the surrendering family were homeless too. I hope they have faith to believe that he is in a safe and caring family to live out his best years, sad to see that people have to give up their pets because of such a difficult economy. Bobo is a great couch sitter and just adds the perfect tranquility to our family, he is the King:)
Thanks again for a wonderful experience in adoption and a top notch staff and facility.
Happy holidays!

PS: What a big boy could not fit on my daughters little chair but did not stop him, gotta love it!

Just wanted to let you know that Maggie is doing great! We adopted her in October 2008 and she fit into our family on the first day. It's like she's always been our dog....we can't imagine how things were without her. She is such a loving, gentle dog, all the kids on the street adore her. Our son thinks it's just great when he finds her sleeping on his bed! She has DEFINITELY found her forever home and we look forward to sharing the rest of her forever with her. Thanks

Hello every one at the shelter in Bedford. Just a note to let all know some progress on Shadow.
We adopted her four months ago and in that time she has become a real part of our lives. Since coming to live with us she has changed a lot. She has become trusting and extremely lovable. She is a joy to have around and we are very happy with her. Shadow is thriving and coming into her own. She is now a year old and fully grown.
She is very playful and a runner when we let her out of doors for excersise when we come home from work at nite. It's a shame the previous owner didn't really take care of her Shadow & Dad for she is such joy and she has brought much happiness to us after the loss of our older dog Miky. She is not a replacement for him and we love her for herself. We would be lost without her now. She really belongs in this home and she had made it so in her own way.
She is in a very good home where she is cared for all the time and receive lots of attention including kisses on her head. She goes to a groomer every so often and gets bath teeth brushed and nails clips, so you see she is well taken care of.
I'm very glad that we adopted her and we can see that she is happy here too!
WE LOVE HER A L-O-O-O-T-T-T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to keep you updated on my two girls! Don't they look darling together? This was the very picture I had in my mind's eye when I thought about bringing Kiki home! I could see the possibilities and I prayed they would end up friends & partners... and, so they have!
Judi Tia & Kiki enjoy the view
You can read about Kiki's journey to her happy home in our June Newsletter.

I just wanted to say thank you again for all of your help in adopting Max. We've given him the name Moxie (Mox for short) because it seemed more appropriate to his personality and, since he already knew the name Max, Mox isn't too far off as to confuse him. In the last 2 days he has rapidly adjusted to life with us (as you can see from the picture, he's very comfortable here) & has completely stolen our hearts! He goes from holy terror to sweet & lovable in mere seconds & we love every minute of it! I think that you were right in suggesting he is a one-cat family - he definitely enjoys being the center of attention! Keeping him in one room for the first 24 hours was not in his plans as he became very vocal after about 2 minutes being in the room alone & when I let him out he lazily wandered the house letting me know it is now HIS house. We even had company over Friday night, his first night here, and he wasn't the least intimidated & went right up to them for attention. Thanks so much for helping to bring feline presence back to our home … Moxie has proven to be very therapeutic in healing our hearts, and I believe we're doing the same for him.
Take care,
Dawn
Jessi (now Sydney)
Hi, this is Nicole & Yverson and we wanted to give you all at ARL an update on Jessi, whom we adopted in May. First of all, we immediately changed her name from Jessi to Sydney as we thought she needed a new image. She has been such a good girl and we are so happy to have her. Sydney is very intelligent and sweet! She has mastered sit, down, stay and come. And also learned tricks we taught her just for fun, like roll over and jump. She is also great at fetch, we take her out when we play tennis and have her retrieve the balls that go astray and she brings them right back and drops them at our feet. However, her favorite trick is one she came up with all on her own- stealing socks from the laundry! Everywhere we go people tell us how cute she is and all the kids want to pet her. We always ask them to make her sit or lie down first and she listens quite well. The house training progressed slowly the first couple of weeks until we got her on a solid schedule but she has been great since then, we have even taken her on a few overnight trips to visit family and she did great. Everyone that meets Sydney loves her! I have attached a couple pictures of her (of the many we have taken) so you can see how happy she is.
thank you!
Nicole, Yverson and of course, Sydney

Skyler's new family writes: "Here's a slimmer Skyler. He's become a delightful companion for John and me. He's very clean and fastidious about his grooming, but will allow me to brush him only on his terms, (not for any great length of time). He loves to play, but again, only on his terms! He enjoys our company, and searches for us when he wants attention. He's still quite the gourmand, and likes his meals on time! But, as you can see, he is losing a bit of weight and getting some exercise."
